By Jacqueline Nelson. I love this time of year! Spring is awesome!

I’ve finally been waiting so long to garden, and here in Duncan, Cowichan, the changing seasons make it the perfect time to get started. The air is fresh, the soil is waking up, and every little seed I plant feels like a tiny promise of growth.

There’s something magical about watching new life sprout from the earth. Whether it’s colorful flowers, fresh herbs, or vegetables that will eventually make their way to our plates, gardening reminds me to slow down and appreciate the little things.

Being part of this community garden in Cowichan has been a dream come true. It’s not just about plants—it’s about connecting with nature, learning from others, and creating a space where everyone can share in the joy of growth.

As the seasons change, I can’t wait to see what this garden will bring next. Every bloom, every harvest, and every moment in the dirt is a reminder that patience and care really do pay off. I have mini plants growing all over the house and the cats always make a big mess, So I can't wait to move this show outside and meet up with old and new friends!
